SGRAFFITO WORKSHOP :
Bright & Dynamic Ceramic Surfaces

When: Friday, September 20, 2024 from 6-8PM Where: Little Bird Clay Company, South Windsor CT
Prerequisite: Open to all (beginner to advanced)
Just make sure to bring a leather hard piece of pottery, tile, or small sculpture with you to decorate
Cost: $80 (+$15 if you would like to leave you piece to be fired and clear glazed)
If you need a leather hard pot we will have some for sale.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION :
Sgraffito comes from the Italian word meaning ‘to scratch’. In this workshop participants will watch a brief demonstration by the instructor where she will show her method of planning out designs and patterns, painting with underglaze, and scratching and carving at the painted surface to add dimension and texture.
Participants will then get to practice these techniques on their own pieces with guidance from the instructor.
SUPPLIES PROVIDED :
During the workshop you will have access to studio tools and supplies, including:
- Mayco underglazes
- Basic sgraffito tools
- Paint brushes
SUPPLIES NEEDED :
- A Leather hard pot, tile, or small sculpture to decorate
- Small towel to clean hands and tools
OPTIONAL :
You are welcome to also bring any of your own underglazes or carving tools to use
